These are all the flights I’ve taken since the Fourth of July.

1. UA 2198 // ORD → LGA PHL

My first flight after the July 4th holiday, from Chicago (ORD) to New York (LGA), was diverted to Philadelphia on approach into LaGuardia. After two hours, we were allowed to deplane. I chose to brave the thunderstorms and Uber to New York City, alongside my new favorite row-mates, Bob and Jessica.

2. UA 1308 // EWR → ORD

My flight departed over 90 minutes late for unclear reasons.

3. UA 1842 // ORD → EWR

Arrived 20 minutes early!

4. UA 1842 // LGA → ORD

The flight pushed back despite having a broken APU. During the projected 10–15 minute taxi, the plane began to overheat, and we had to return to the gate as the onboard temperature reached unsafe levels.

After deplaning, our flight was progressively delayed over 5 hours before being cancelled.

I was rebooked on a flight scheduled to depart 60 minutes after my original, but it was delayed 15 hours into the following morning.

5. UA 1477, 1430, 1743 // ORD → PHX → LAX → SFO

Originally booked from Chicago to San Francisco via Phoenix. Upon arrival in Phoenix, our connecting flight to San Francisco was delayed due to a mechanical issue. After 5 hours of progressive delays, I took the last seat to San Francisco via Los Angeles. The original flight carrying my checked bags couldn’t locate a flight crew. I arrived over 8 hours later than originally scheduled.

6. UA 793 // SFO → ORD

Flight was delayed 2 hours due to a mechanical issue. Per our pilot, our original aircraft was “super broke,” and we had to wait for a new one to arrive from Fort Lauderdale.

7. UA 1398 // ORD → ATL

Delayed at origin for 3 hours due to a global outage of United’s departure control software, Unimatic.
